Named after is color, rose quartz is often crackled. A six-rayed star can be seen due to the traces of included rutile needles when rose quartz is cut as a cabochon.

Locations:

Brazil is the largest supplier of rose quartz but the best quality comes from Madagascar. Other localities are the former USSR, Germany, Scotland, Spain and Colorado (USA).
