Citrine has got its name due to its lemonish yellow color, which is present due to the iron contents present in it. A big majority of citrine for commercial purpose is the heat treated amethyst. All heat-treated stones have a red tone whereas the natural citrine is pale yellow and this natural citrine is rare. Heat-treated citrine doesn’t show any pleochroism in comparison to the natural citrine, which has a weak pleochroism.
